POLARIZATION OPTICAL DEVICE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display module containing a device capable of effectively increasing optical utilization rate of the liquid crystal display module.

SOLUTION: A polarization optical device comprises a thin film including a first refractive layer and a second refractive layer having refractive index different from that of the first refractive layer, a first prism which is disposed on a lower surface of the thin film to abut the first refractive layer and a second prism which is disposed on an upper surface of the thin film. The first and second prisms are symmetrical with respect to the thin film. The liquid crystal display module equipped with the polarization optical device is also provided. Incident light can be divided into an S-ray and a P-ray by thin film interference and brightness can be enhanced by reutilizing the S-ray.
