PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing apparatus with a shock countermeasure mechanism without upsizing the apparatus and increasing the cost. SOLUTION: Sensor signal processing sections 11a to 11d amplify analog signals outputted from electrostatic capacity sensors 1a to 1d and apply A/D conversion (binarizing) to the amplified signals. A hold state determination section 12 determines whether or not a user holds a mobile video terminal 100 on the basis of outputs from the sensor signal processing sections 11a to 11d. A control section 13 controls a hard disk unit 3 or the like on the basis of an output of the hold state determination section 12. For example, when the hold state determination section 12 detects that the mobile video terminal 100 changes from a holding state into a non-holding state, the control section 13 gives a command to the hard disk unit 3 so as to retreat heads of the hard disk unit 3 to a ship yard.
