PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convey received paper money to an upper part a plurality of sheets at a time stably, and to deliver the paper money to the next process. SOLUTION: This paper money conveying mechanism 3 is provided with an accumulating part 30 for supporting a plurality of sheets of paper money in an accumulation state and an elevating/lowering means for elevating/lowering the accumulating part 30 between a lower position where paper money is received and an upper position where the received paper money is delivered to the next process. This accumulating part 30 is provided with a receiving member 31 and a pressurizing member 32 formed so as to be freely separable from this receiving member 31 and interlinking members 37, 3r and so on for moving the pressurizing member 32 to the receiving member 31 while being interlinked with the vertical movement of the accumulating part 30. This interlinking means moves the pressurizing member 32 to a stand-by position separated from the receiving member 31 at the lower position of the accumulating part 30, and when the accumulating part 30 is elevated from the lower position, the interlinking means moves the pressurizing member 32 to a pressurizing position where accumulated paper money S is pressurized by approaching the receiving member 31.
