PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector inspecting apparatus capable of accurately capturing an image projected by the projector, and to provide an inspecting method for the inspecting apparatus. SOLUTION: The inspecting apparatus 80 for the projector PJ includes a control device 81 and a light-receiving device 82. The light-receiving device 82 has a light-receiving section 85 in which a plurality of photo-detectors PD, formed from photo-diodes or the like, are arranged in a matrix. The light-receiving section 85 has an area larger than that of a projection area 65 irradiated with projection light. The photodetectors PD are arranged within the light-receiving section 85 so as to be in close contact with one another.
