PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the concentration of a benzimidazole proton pump inhibitor and a metabolite in blood. SOLUTION: A blood plasma specimen containing the benzimidazole proton pump inhibitor represented by omeplazol (OPZ) and lansoplazol (LPZ) and the metabolite is pretreated using a solid phase column to prepare a specimen to be measured and high-speed liquid chromatography is performed using an inverse phase analyzing column. The elution liquid from the column is analyzed by an ultraviolet absorptiometer and benzimidazole proton pump inhibitor and its metabolite h-OPZ and OPZ-sn are separated on a chromatogram to quantify the benzimidazole proton pump inhibior.
