PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal additive for paper, which can be obtained in a high concentration, has excellent dispersibility in water and excellent storage stability, and exhibits excellent performance on a paper thickness-improving effect, to provide a method for producing paper with the same, and to provide paper containing the additive to be contained in the paper. SOLUTION: This additive for the paper, obtained by reacting an epihalohydrin (C) with an amide-based compound (B) obtained by the reaction of a polyalkylene polyamine compound with a 6 to 24C monocarboxylic acid and/or a 6 to 24C monocarboxylic acid derivative in the presence of a cationic polymer and/or an amphoteric polymer (A).
