PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel for an automobile in which a general tire can be used, the rim assembly property of the tire is excellent, the workability and durability of the wheel are excellent, and the reduction effect of road noise can be obtained without considerably increasing the mass. SOLUTION: In the wheel for the automobile provided with a rim 1 having a groove part 9 with one side of a bead inserted therein when a pneumatic tire is rim-assembled, a pair of projecting parts 6 having a substantially symmetric shape to the split plane for equal splitting through the wheel axis are provided in the groove part 9 of the rim 1, and the height of the projecting parts 6 is gradually increased from the vicinity of the split plane with the minimum radius of the groove part 9 as a reference, and reaches a substantially maximum value at the position across the perpendicular drawn from the wheel axis of the split plane.
