METHOD OF MANUFACTURING GRIN LENS AND GRIN LENS

A method of easily manufacturing a GRIN lens having a large numerical aperture (NA) and a refractive index distribution of a square curve. A columnar wet gel is formed from sol containing a silicon alkoxide and metal alkoxide for enhancing a refractive index, the wet gel is immersed in a processing liquid eluting the metal, and the processing liquid is impregnated to the central part of the wet gel to elute the metal. In a method of manufacturing a GRIN lens by a sol-gel method, the above process, which is a process for providing concentration distribution of the metal, is performed at least two times to easily manufacture a GRIN lens havinga large numerical aperture (NA) and a refractive index distribution of a square curve.
