PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera photographing an image so that light emission quantity of a flashing unit magnet become excessive or short. SOLUTION: When image pickup sensitivity SVs which is set by sensitivity calculated based on a guide number of the flashing unit, an assumed photography distance and a control stop value AVc when the electronic camera 1 uses the incorporated flashing unit (or external flashing unit 11), calculated sensitivity is set to be control image pickup sensitivity SVc, and setting image pickup sensitivity SVs is changed to control image pickup sensitivity SVc. In the case of a shutter speed priority automatic exposure mode, setting image pickup sensitivity SVs is changed to control image pickup sensitivity SVc so that exposure of a background becomes proper. In the case of a program automatic exposure mode and a stop priority automatic exposure mode, shutter speed is changed and controlled within a range of synchronizing speed for the portion of change quantity of exposure of the background, which changes with sensitivity change for avoiding lack of a light volume of the flashing unit.
