PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly respond to abnormality of a disconnector for selectively and mechanically connecting a steering wheel and steered wheels in a steer-by-wire system steering device of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The steer-by-wire system steering device of the vehicle is provided solenoid clutches 32, 33 and a cable (intermediate member) 31 between a steering input shaft 12 connected to the steering wheel 11 and a steering output shaft 24 mechanically connected to left and right front wheels FW1, FW2 such that the steering wheel 11 and the left and right front wheels FW1, FW2 are mechanically connected in abnormality of an electric motor 22 for steering. When abnormality of erroneous connection that it is always connected to one of the solenoid clutches 32, 33 is generated, steering characteristic of the left and right front wheels FW1, FW2 is changed to the steering characteristic of mechanical connection. Further, when abnormality of erroneous disconnection that it is always disconnected with one of the solenoid clutches 32, 33 is generated, a traveling speed of the vehicle is restricted.
