PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite particle powder which inhibits coming off of an organic pigment from the surface of a resin particle powder and excels in flowability, colorability, and light resistance, and a coating material and a resin composition which comprise the composite particle powder and excel in dispersibility, light resistance, and storage stability. SOLUTION: The composite particle powder is composed of a resin particle powder, on the particle surface of which a surface modifier is coated and an organic pigment being attached to the particle surface of the surface modifier coated resin particles, and can be obtained by mixing a resin particle powder with a surface modifier to coat the particle surface of the resin particle powder with the surface modifier, then adding an organic pigment to the surface modifier coated resin particle, and mixing and agitating the resulting mixture to attach the organic pigment to the particle surface of the surface modifier coated resin particles.
