PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mount winding device of a label printing machine which can retain a printing quality by preventing a mount wound around a winding part from being slack, and by avoiding a sudden change of a tension applied to the mount in the label printing machine which carries out back-feeding in an opposite direction after performing printing to a label paper and releasing a label piece. SOLUTION: In the mount winding device of the label printing machine, attention is paid to prevent the mount from being slack by rotary driving a winding motor slightly in a forward direction (winding direction) at the time of back-feeding of the label paper in the opposite direction. The label piece is released from the mount by rotary driving a winding shaft by the winding motor and taking up the mount in the forward direction. Then, the label paper is fed back in the opposite direction at a printing part and set to a printing position of the printing part to carry out next printing. At the time of back-feeding in the opposite direction of the label paper, the winding motor is rotary driven slightly in the forward direction, thereby preventing the mount from being slack.
