1,254,071. Indexible work-table; drilling machines. C. W. BERTHIEZ. 27 Jan., 1969 [2 Feb., 1968], No. 4426/69. Headings B3B and B3C. The work-table 4 of a drilling and milling machine 1 is mounted for rotary indexing about an axis 5 on a support 6 and carries a series of screw-operated jacks 8a . . . 8d at its periphery which are operable to support the work-table 4 in its indexed positions from support surfaces 10a, 10b. The jacks when lowered engage shoes 9a. . . 9d mounted on the support surfaces 10a, 10b provided by a pair of parallel rails 11a, 11b which are themselves adjustably mounted for levelling purposes on jacks in the foundation pit shown. The work-table is adjustable on the support base 6<SP>1</SP> and the shoes 9 on the rails 11 in the direction of the machine spindle. The shoes 9 may be linked in pairs by bars 55. In an alternative arrangement the jacks 8 are mounted in the movable shoes 9 and not in the work-table. Electrical contacts may be associated with the jacks to prevent operation of the indexing means except when the jacks are raised. |
