PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion by efficiently removing a fluorine-containing emulsifier in an untreated fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion comprises bringing an untreated fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion comprising a fluoropolymer, a fluorine-containing emulsifier and an aqueous medium into contact with an effective amount of active carbon in the presence or absence of a nonionic surfactant.
