PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge in which a residual amount of ink can be visually judged, the ink can be effectively used, an ink package can be replaced and the capacity can be enlarged, and an ink package used therein. SOLUTION: An ink package (20) is equipped with a body (21) for housing ink and an ink supply hole (22) for supplying the ink. A flat plate (23) is attached to one side face section of the body (21) and the top face is opened in a condition that the ink cartridge is set up when the ink package (20) is loaded to the ink cartridge (10). A slide member (8) for inserting the flat plate (23) is provided to the inner face of the side face of the ink cartridge opposite to the flat plate (23). When the ink package (20) is loaded, the flat plate (23) is inserted along the slide member (8), and then the ink package (20) is detachably loaded to the ink cartridge (10).
