PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the photometric device of a camera capable of obtaining more proper exposure by taking lightness of a field and the level of a high-luminance part into consideration. SOLUTION: The photometric device of the camera of the present invention has a photometric part which divides a field into a plurality of areas and performs photometry, a first operation part which divides the respective divided areas of the photometric part into a plurality of groups and calculates the luminance value of the field on the basis of photometric values by groups, a maximum photometric value detection part which detects the maximum photometric value among the divided areas, a high luminance part detection part which detects the size of a cluster of divided areas where the maximum photometric value is obtained, and a second operation part which varies the luminance value according to the maximum photometric value and the size of the cluster of the divided areas.
