发明名称 ASSEMBLING METHOD FOR RACK AND PINION TYPE STEERING DEVICE
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize reduction of friction of a gear back surface of a rack and a rack support by not abrasion-removing a fine projection but transferring a solid lubricant around the fine projection and as a result, to shorten running-in operation (pre-conditioning operation) to reduce manufacturing cost while substantially completely suppressing generation of rattling noise by increasing engagement pressurization of a rack and pinion and certainly preventing rattling. SOLUTION: After respective parts of the rack and pinion type steering device are assembled, when the habituation operation is performed, load is applied to the rack and pinion to stroke the rack while a hexagon head 14a of an adjustment cover 14 is fastened by a tool 20 (spanner). Thereby, the solid lubricant such as Teflon (R) previously coated or impregnated on a rack slide-contact surface 12a of the rack support 12 is transferred to the gear back surface of a rack shaft 3.
