PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective termination technology for selecting, in an IP telephone, a party to be terminated on the terminating side, for example, the calls from the family members and important customers. SOLUTION: The originator telephone number and individual connection designating file including a plurality of sets of the selective connection modes for the telephone number of the selective connection time are stored to a memory of a telephone set. The telephone set reads the selective connection mode and selective connection time corresponding to the originator telephone number with reference to the file in accordance with the connection request from the originator telephone set. When the selective connection mode is ON and the present time is within the period of the selective connection time, the telephone set calls a handset for the constant period and then makes off-hook thereof and returns the connection allowing information to the originator telephone set. When the selective connecting mode is off or when the selective connecting mode is on and the present time is out of the period of the selective connecting time, the telephone set returns the connection allowing information to the originator telephone set when the terminator makes off-hook for the handset.
