PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate troublesomeness in charging work of a portable telephone and troublesomeness in setting/resetting operation of absent mode in intercom system. SOLUTION: An intercom master unit 1 is provided with a charging function of a portable telephone 3, and the control section 12 of the intercom master unit 1 judges absence when uncharging of the portable telephone 3 is detected and stores the video image of visitors sequentially in a memory 15. The control section 12 judges presence when start of charging of the portable telephone 3 is detected and displays the video image of visitors stored during absence from the memory 15 and displays the video image at a display section 17. Since charging and uncharging of the portable telephone is interlocked with reset and set operations of absence mode in an intercom system, set/reset operation of absence mode of the intercom system is eliminated. Furthermore, a cradle for charging the portable telephone is eliminated and troublesome work for taking out the charging cradle every time when the portable telephone is charged is eliminated.
