PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reproduction quality when carrying out variable speed reproduction of an original sound signal containing various kinds of sounds. SOLUTION: PCM data is supplied to a signal analysis circuit 50 and an HPF circuit 53 at a supply rate according to the reproduction speed. The signal analysis circuit 50 analyzes the nature of frequency characteristic or the like which the supplied PCM data has, derives an optimum HPF property and sends the property information to a switching circuit 52. Meanwhile, an HPF designation circuit 51 receives designation of the HPF property from a system controller and sends it to the switching circuit 52. The HPF circuit 53 performs a filtering process to the PCM data based on the property information on a side supplied from the switching circuit 52 and attenuates a sound pressure level of the low-band side. A PCM data thinning circuit 54 performs thinning processing to the PCM data and a cross fade connection circuit 55 performs cross fade processing to supplied PCM data and combines it to one PCM data.
