<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition hardly generating craze or flaking, enabling thick application all at once, and drastically improved in strength developability. <P>SOLUTION: This composition for mortar comprisesα-wollastonite, especiallyα-wollastonite having≥4,000 cm<SP>2</SP>/g Blaine specific surface area, and calcium hydroxide, where theα-wollastonite occupies 20-70 parts in 100 parts total ofα-wollastonite and calcium hydroxide. The composition may further comprise one or more additives from among a thickener, a fibrous substance and a defoaming agent. The composition may further comprise one or more additives from among a clay mineral, silica fine powder and a polymer. The mortar comprises the composition for mortar and water, where water is formulated by 30-100 parts based on 100 parts of the composition for mortar.
