PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery and electrolyte solution used for it capable of improving cycle characteristics. SOLUTION: An anode 22, capable of storing and releasing lithium, contains an anode material containing a metal element and at least one kind of semi-metal element as constituent elements. The electrolyte solution is impregnated in a separator 23. The electrolyte solution contains fluoride or fluoride oxide of transition metal such as titanium fluoride (IV), vanadium fluoride (IV), niobium fluoride(V), vanadyl fluoride or the like.
