PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive image scanner with small size and light weight and with which high reading performance is maintained. SOLUTION: The image scanner has a contact type image reading sensor 4 having a reading surface 4a and a conveyance mechanism such as rollers 5, 15, 6 and 16 which convey an original at a contact or approximate state to the reading surface 4a. In the image scanner, an original regulation guide rod 21 having a V-shaped cross section is arranged so that a V-shaped tip part 22 faces the original reading surface 4a. Preferably, the original regulation guide rod 21 is folding mold goods of sheet metal, in which vertical direction centering control is possible and which is rotatable around a horizontal rotational axis core perpendicular to the conveyance direction.
