PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of bundles of wires used in serial communication of a conventional image forming apparatus, and to perform communication without erroneous reading by avoiding a switching noise of DC power source. SOLUTION: Using a power line 114 as a signal transmission path, communication is performed between a plurality of control modules 106 and 107 connected to the power line 114, thereby reducing the number of bundles of wires of communication and control signals. Also, a switching noise of a DC power source 102 is monitored and communication is started using this switching noise as a synchronization signal, thereby avoiding the switching noise of DC power source to perform communication without erroneously detecting signals.
