GLASS CONTAINER FOR FLUORESCENT LAMP AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp having a long life preventing reaction of sodium with phosphor and formation of mercury amalgam while maintaining excellent workability at high temperature by using soda lime-based glass. SOLUTION: On the glass container made of soda lime silica glass for enclosing gas containing mercury vapor or mercury amalgam vapor, sodium at the neighborhood of glass surface is replaced by potassium at least at a part of an inner surface of the container, by making the container contact with molten potassium salt after forming the container into a prescribed shape.
