PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for measuring the shape of rollers capable of computing both errors in positioning and cylindricity and accurately measuring the shape of external generating lines of the rollers in consideration of the cylindricity. SOLUTION: The roller shape measuring apparatus is provided with a pair of gauge heads 6 and 6 capable of being arranged in such a way as to be each in contact with two external generating lines symmetrical to a center line 4a of a roller 4 to be measured.
