PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method for a contaminated medium, which uses a plant quickly absorbing a toxic substance to improve cleaning efficiency. SOLUTION: In the cleaning method for the contaminated medium, the plant having the ability to absorb the toxic substance from the root is planted so as to be rooted in the medium contaminated with the toxic substance, and the toxic substance is absorbed from the root into the plant and removed from the medium.
