PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables an efficient reduction in the concentrations of selenium and heavy metals in wastewater. SOLUTION: The wastewater treatment method comprises a carbon dioxide gas introduction process for introducing carbon dioxide gas (CO<SB>2</SB>) into lead-containing wastewater, and an iron salt coprecipitation process for adding a ferrous salt to a liquid fraction after solid-liquid separation and adjusting pH to 7-11 by addition of an alkali agent to perform solid-liquid separation. By removing lead beforehand, selenium and other heavy metals in the wastewater can be effectively removed in the iron salt coprecipitation process. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
