PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide that has a shape adaptable to broad purposes, that has low loss, and that facilitates manufacturing by reducing radiation loss in the curved part caused through deformation by an external force. SOLUTION: The waveguide 10 made from organic materials, contains a core layer 1 and a clad layer 2, and inputs/propagates/emits a signal light. The core layer 1 is formed within a substantial plane formed by the clad layer 2 and is provided in part with a U-shaped section, while the shape deformation of the core layer 1 is suppressed. The U-shaped section suitably holds a prescribed shape so as to keep an angle always smaller than the normal critical angle of total reflection in the boundary face between the core layer 1 and the clad layer 2.
