PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device capable of reducing a power consumption and capable of using a recording processing in common as much as possible in different photographing modes. SOLUTION: JPEG data indicating a field image are prepared by intermittent photographing operations using an interval photographing function. The JPEG data of a plurality of frames prepared by the plurality times of photographing operations are recorded on an animation file formed to a recording medium 32. A main CPU 34 retrieves a footer from the animation file before the photographing operations, and updates the footer after the photographing operations. The JPEG data of the current frame and the updated footer are written to the animation file by the main CPU 34. When the writing is completed, a main power supply is turned off by a sub-CPU 38. The main power supply is turned on by the sub-CPU 38 prior to the next retrieval operation. The main CPU 34 measures the time consumed for retrieving the footer, and the sub-CPU 38 adjusts a timing turning on the main power supply on the basis of the result of the measurement.
