PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing system with high convenience whereby an optional imaging apparatus can confirm a release operation and a photographed image without the need for a wasteful operation at photographing. SOLUTION: The photographing system is built up wherein a plurality of electronic still cameras 1a, 1b, 1c to which individual camera IDs are respectively set are interconnected to communicate with each other , and when a release button of any camera is operated, the camera whose release button is operated acts like a master camera and transmits a prescribed communication message to the other cameras acting like slave cameras to attain prescribed interlocking operations including at least a photographing operation. When the photographing operation in the interlocking operations is carried out, photographed image data of each slave camera are transferred to the master camera after the completion of the photographing operation, and the master camera executes photographing image monitor processing wherein the master camera displays the photographed image data transferred from each slave camera and its own photographed image data.
