PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting acceleration control device of a belt type continuously variable transmission for reducing a sense of incompatibility of a driver generated by a difference in starting acceleration performance when starting from the different pulley ratio. SOLUTION: This belt type continuously variable transmission 1 has a primary pulley 2 connected to an engine 5 and a secondary pulley 3 joined in driving to this primary pulley via a belt 4, and can perform starting acceleration in response to the pulley ratio Ip by properly changing the pulley ratio Ip between the pulleys, and is provided with a controller 200 for performing a torque-down request to the engine 5. This controller 200 has a map capable of mutually converting the starting Gp and the pulley ratio Ip, and performs the torque-down request to the engine 5 so that the actual pulley ratio ip becomes the required pulley ratio Ip(o), when the actual pulley ratio ip is the required pulley ratio Ip(o) or more, by comparing the required pulley ratio Ip(o) corresponding to a required preset value Ao for securing the starting acceleration performance for minimally requiring a peak value of starting acceleration, with the actual pulley ratio ip calculated as the present pulley ratio.
