PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unleaded gasoline composition wherein sulfur content and diene number are reduced and a sufficient driving performance is ensured, and its production method. SOLUTION: The unleaded gasoline composition has a total sulfur content of≤10 mass ppm, an olefin content of 5-30 vol.%, a diene number of≤0.3 g/100 g and a research octane number of≥89, wherein the proportion of CH<SB>2</SB>carbons having carbon-carbon double bonds (=CH<SB>2</SB>carbons) to all carbons is <1%. A cracked gasoline base which is capable of retaining a high RON and reducing the diene content in a cracked gasoline fraction is produced by contacting the cracked gasoline fraction with a catalyst containing at least one metal chosen from group 8 elements in the periodic table in the presence of hydrogen to reduce the diene number and to reduce the proportion of =CH<SB>2</SB>carbons to all carbons more significantly compared to the reduction of the proportion of unsaturated carbons to all carbons.
