PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a realistic, quantitative analysis method of the steering characteristics for vehicle/tire handling stability that can exhibits steering characteristics, under a transient revolving condition appearing in case of lane-changing and track-traveling and can directly apply to vehicle/tire design. SOLUTION: The steering characteristics of the vehicle are analyzed, by dividing into understeering, oversteering, and power-off reaction entries; for the understeering factors of a revolution curvature and a revolution speed are used, in association with a vehicle-revolving trajectory; for the oversteering a nose angle and the temporal change rate of the nose angle are used in association with the vehicle attitude; and for the power-off reaction the gradient, the change rate, and the amount of the changes of the nose angle are used, These factors are compared with reference data, obtained from the test in a quasi-steady state where the behavior state is stable, and then the steering characteristics are determined quantitatively.
