Process and assembly to determine the load factor in a diesel engine exhaust gas filter by measuring lambda value upstream and downstream of the filter

In a process to determine the particle load in a diesel engine exhaust filter with a sensor (9) the sensor is installed in the exhaust pipe downstream from the filter. The particle filter load factor is determined by an algorithm using the difference between the lambda factor before and after the filter. The lambda value before the particle filter (9) is substituted by the mass of fuel in the exhaust gas. The lambda value prior to the particle filter (9) in the unfiltered exhaust gas is determined by two or more pre-determined motor operating parameters e.g. air mass supplied and injected fuel mass. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly.
