摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel capable of securing long service life even under high load/high speed drive. SOLUTION: This is an outer ring rotation type bearing device for the wheel for supporting the wheel to an axle 2 by a tapered roller bearing 1. The tapered roller bearing 1 comprises an outer ring 4 integrally having a flange 4b for mounting the wheel on its outer periphery of one end portion, and having a double row outer rolling face 4a on its inner periphery, a pair of inner rings 3 having inner rolling faces 3a on their outer peripheries oppositely to the double row outer rolling face 4a, and a double row tapered roller 5 rotatably disposed between both rolling faces. As large flanges 4c slidably kept into contact with a large end face 5a of the tapered roller 5, are formed on both end portions of the outer ring 4, the outer ring can be slidably kept into contact with the large end face 5a of the tapered roller 5 at the entire circumference of the large flange 4c formed on the outer ring 4, even when the outer ring receives bending moment, contact face pressure is reduced, a thickness of an oil film on a contact portion is secured, heat generation is reduced, and endurance service life under high load/high speed drive can be improved.
