PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a CCD type solid-state imaging element having a built-in drive circuit which enables high-speed drive, low power consumption, high integration and single power pulse drive. SOLUTION: A perpendicular potential change transmission is made, by timing generating means 3 and drive pulse generating means 4 which generates negative value pulses. Vertical scanning is carried out with column selecting control means 6 and transfer pulse generating means 7 to impress a transfer pulse of high voltage to a selecting column. After the amplification holding of the potential is made with amplification means having 11-18 provided for each vertical transfer means 2, horizontal scanning is performed in a horizontal scanning circuit 19. Further, the vertical charge transmission means 2 has a charge transmission controller having 2-2 to 2-4, and realizes compatibility of discharging of the unwanted charges from a reset switch 12 and the band limit of the amplifier 11.
