Catalytic combustion of ammonia - using cheap iron - manganese oxide catalyst activated with bismuth oxide

Catalytic combustion of NH3 with O2 to N2 and H2O is carried out on Fe-Mn oxide catalyst, with wt. ratio of Fe and Mn oxides 1.5:1, activated with 0.1-25 wt. % Bi oxide, using excess O2 at combustion temp. 700 degrees C and average linear gas velocity in free space of catalyst layer up to 100 cm/s. Combustion takes place in one pass and uses cheapest possible catalyst. NH3 and NO contens of treated gas are so low that 'after-combustion' is unnecessary.
