A camera exchange system is provided comprising a plurality of one-time use, digital cameras and a refurbishing station for refurbishing used, returned cameras. Each camera has a supply of print media, a printer for printing an image onto said print media, a cutter for severing a printed image from said supply of print media, a counter for counting the number of cutting operations of said cutter, and an authentication means. The refurbishing station replenishes the supply of print media of each of the returned cameras and resets the counter in response to the authentication means authenticating that the refurbishing station is authorised to effect refurbishing of the camera.
