A method for joining components involves preparing at least two components (10,11) to be joined together by arranging the component parts so that between the joining-surfaces (12,13) is formed a space/gap. An ionizing gas is passed between the joining-surfaces of the component parts, to provide plasma formation between the joining-surfaces (12,13) by ignition of the gas, where the power required for the ignition process is provided by micro-wave radiation. The components (10,11) are then welded together at the joining-surfaces (12,13).
