The cam shaft adjuster has hydraulically actuated setting members (16) for adjusting the relative position of the cam shafts (11). Switch valves (13) are mounted in the hydraulic lines (15,17,18) inclined relative to the vertical axis of the engine. The hydraulic lines can be formed linear between the switch valve and setting member.
