<p>A metallic framework for the hull of a boat is treated with polyester resin or epoxide resin free from glass fibres. The polyester resin is pref. filled with a lightweight filler such as pozzolana or wood flour treated to neutralise phenolic resins. The framework may be of tubular steel elements and wire to which various components may be directly welded. Electrical connections are pref. inserted before applying the resin layer. The use of a metal reinforcing framework for the hull enables the resin surface to be applied without employing a mould, thus reducing cost.</p> |
