The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-5 alkyl or aralkyl, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are each H or C 1-5 -alkyl; R<SP>5</SP>=H, C 1-5 alkyl or Ph; and X is Cl, Br or I. These compounds are prepared by reacting together the corresponding 2-halopyrimidine and substituted imidazole. Therapeutic compositions for oral or parenteral administration comprise compounds of the above formula, which have hypoglycaemic properties.</p> |
