1,182,042. Resistance heating elements. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 8 Oct., 1968 [11 Oct.. 1967], No. 47649/68. Heading H5H. Insulated electric heating resistances 8 are disposed on the generatrices of a solid cylindrical metal member 1 which concentrates the heat flux in a plane portion 3 in engagement with a specimen 13 to be heated, the member 1 being shaped as shown with, in cross-section, part circular portions 4, 5, interconnecting the part circular portion 2 and plane portion 3. To reduce heat losses along portions 4, 5, the member 1 is placed in an evacuated enclosure 14 with reflecting inner walls and heat insulation on its outer surface. The mount for specimen 13 is heated by auxiliary resistances (not shown) to the same temperature as plane portion 3, to reduce conduction heat losses. Two thermocouples (not shown), one near portion 2 and one on member 1 remote from portion 2, control current through resistances 8, and thereby heat flux through specimen 13.
|
