The invention relates to a method for producing of R-alpha-lipoic acid by means of fermentation, characterized in that a cell, which has an activity of the lipoyl protein ligase B that is higher than that of a wild type strain and, at the same time, has a concentration of a lipoylatable polypeptide higher than that of the wild type, is cultured in a culture medium, whereby the cell secretes enantiomer-pure R-alpha-lipoic acid into the culture medium, and the enantiomer-pure R-alpha-lipoic acid is separated out from the culture medium. |
