The printing machine (1) is connected to a reference scale (2) containing e.g. three color spectra (9). Data may be fed to the printing machine from outside (7). The printing machine produces a test printed picture (8). The reference scale is connected to a data value table (3) with several rows of color tones (4) and color value combinations (5). The data value table is connected to a computer (6). The computer controls a color printer (10) which may produce a test printed picture (11) with feedback connections.
