A sanitary napkin 4 in combination with a pair of briefs 1 is formed of superposed absorbent layers 5, 5', 5" .. of increasing area so that the napkin is thicker at its centre than at the edges. The uppermost layer 5 is thicker than the others and recessed at its centre 5a to conform to the external shape of the genital organs. The briefs 1 may have a waist belt 1 open at one or both sides and be provided with closure means 3 and be of impermeable synthetic or mixed fibres connected by thermal welding. When used with the briefs the napkin has its inner face lined with a textile sheet 6 perforated along the recess 5a and its overhanging edges 6a are thermally welded to the briefs. |
