The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein A is a straight or branched chain alkylene group of'2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenylene; a is the integer 2 or 4; M is at least one of cadmium, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, nickel and zinc; b is the integer 1, 3 or 4; X is at least one anion which complexes with metal M; c is 0 or an integer from 1 to 4; d is an integer from 1 to 4; Y is an onium group which is a morpholinium, imidazolium, (C 1 -C 6 )-alkyl imidazolium, 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-N-alkylcarbamoyl-imidazolinium wherein the alkyl is 1 to 24 carbon atoms, (C 1 -C 6 )-alkyl pyridinium, (C 2 -C 6 )-alkylenediammonium, the group wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 each represent a (C 1 -C 24 )-alkyl, eycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, alkyl-substituted benzyl having up to 12 alkyl carbon atoms or (C 1 -C 4 )-hydroxyalkyl group, or hydrogen except that, when R1, R2 and R3 each represent hydrogen, R4 is a group other than hydrogen or methyl; the group wherein R5, R6, R7 and R8 each represent C 1-24 alkyl, mono- or di-alkylamino wherein the alkyl radicals contain 1-24 C atoms, phenyl, benzyl or alkyl-benzyl wherein the alkyl group is C 1-12 . The compounds are prepared by reacting together in solution, a bisdithiocarbamate A-(-NHCSS-Z) 2 , a source of Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni or Zn ions and an onium salt as defined above. They are used in fungicidal compositions (see Division A5).
