1340267 Thiadiazolyl ureas AGRIPAT SA 22 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 10842/71 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are identical and represent methyl or ethyl, unsubstituted or substituted by CN or C 1-4 alkoxy, or R 1 and R 2 together form a C 2-4 polymethylene group; each of R 3 and R 4 which may be the same or different, represents a C 1-4 alkyl group, and R 5 represents H or C 1-4 alkyl optionally substituted by C 1-4 alkoxy, with the proviso that R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are not all methyl when R 5 represents hydrogen, may be prepared by one of the following methods (or variants thereof):-(a) reacting a compound of formula wherein Hal represents Cl or Br, at -10‹ C. to +20‹ C. in the presence of an acid-binding agent with a compound R 1 NHR 2 to yield a compound and reacting this with an amine R 4 NHR 5 at 50-150‹ C.; or (b) if R 5 represents H, reacting a compound with an isocyanate R 4 NCO. The novel compounds exhibit herbicidal properties. |
