1277675 Clearing obstructions in pipes MARLEY TILE CO Ltd 17 May 1971 [5 June 1970] 27368/70 Heading F2N A pipe obstruction clearing device 1 for attachment to the end of flexible rodding 4, which is to be thrust into the pipe, comprises a disc 2 having an outer annular portion capable of flexing, a threaded boss 3 for attachment to the end of the rodding, a frusto-conical collar 7 around the boss 3, and a roller assembly 9 for guiding the device during forward movement round pipe bends or through pipe junctions. During backward movement through a junction, the tapered collar 7 and the flexibility of disc 2 ensure that the angle (21, Fig. 3) formed by the two branch pipe walls does not snag the device. The disc 2 may be of natural or synthetic rubber, polypropylene or nylon and, as shown, is located against a rigid metal flange 6. The collar 7 may be of stainless steel or may be formed integrally with disc 2. |
